Why should I believe the Bible?

What a great question! The Bible is sometimes called the "inspired Word of God." That means that the people God chose to write the book were VERY close to God. God didn't actually take a pen and write the words, but God DID help the people write down what God wants us to know, so we can trust what the writers are telling us.

Scribes were people who made copies of the first Bibles. They wrote down every single word by hand. They were so careful about their work that they even counted the number of letters on each page to make sure they were the same! If they found a mistake, they threw out the copy and started over!

Bible scholars and archaeologists* have found lots of copies of early Bible scrolls. Probably the most famous are the Dead Sea scrolls. These are the oldest Bible writings ever found and they are almost IDENTICAL to what our Bibles say today!

Archaeologists are finding more and more to prove that what the Bible says is true! They have found ruins of the palace where Esther and King Xerxes lived, records about when Daniel lived, records about King David and MUCH more! Nothing written in the Bible has ever been disproved by archaeology!

*Archaeologists are people who study about times and people who lived long ago. They dig around ancient buildings and cities to find artifacts that tell about these times.
